Professor Dr. Makhdoom Muhammad Roshan Siddiqi is the Chairman of the Islamic Studies Department at Government College University Hyderabad. His expertise encompasses critical areas such as the Qur’an, Hadith, Seerah, Fiqh and Usool e Fiqh, Islamic History, Thought, Culture, and Civilization. Dr. Siddiqi's approach extends beyond traditional Islamic education, encouraging students to explore the intersections of Islamic knowledge with contemporary issues. This equips them to address ideological, socio-political, and economic challenges effectively. Dr. Adnan Malik
Associate Professor

Brief Introduction:

Dr. Adnan Malik is a distinguished Associate Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at Government College University Hyderabad. With a strong academic and research background, he has published extensively in national and international journals and has presented scholarly papers at various academic forums. His published work includes one book, with two more in progress, reflecting his continuous engagement in research.He has actively enhanced his academic and pedagogical skills through participation in the National Faculty Development Program by NAHE, HEC Islamabad, and several workshops organized by the Directorate of Professional Development (DPD) and the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at GCUH. These training programs focused on areas such as competency-based education, andragogy, curriculum design, conflict resolution, faculty capacity building, and academic quality assurance.In recognition of his academic contributions, Dr. Malik received the Academic Achievement Award from the Vice-Chancellor of GCUH in 2018. He is actively involved in institutional development through his participation in key university bodies, including the organizing committee for international conferences, the library committee, and as the focal person for community service initiatives. Dr. Malik is also a dedicated research supervisor and examiner for MPhil and PhD programs at leading universities including the University of Karachi and the University of Sindh. His research interests include Quran, Seerah, Islamic History, Islamic thought,education, contemporary socio-religious issues, and the role of Islamic values in sustainable development. He is committed to advancing research culture, mentoring young scholars, and contributing to the academic excellence and societal impact of Islamic studies.

Dr. Mufti Hafeez Ur Rehman
Assistant Professor

Brief Introduction:

Dr. Hafeez is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at Government College University Hyderabad. He is a dedicated academic and researcher, with numerous publications in reputable national and international journals, and has actively presented his research at various conferences across the globe. He is the author of one published book, with two additional volumes currently in progress. His outstanding academic contributions have earned him the Academic Achievement Award from the Vice Chancellor of GCU Hyderabad.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Hafeez plays an active role in the academic and administrative life of the university. He is a member of several important committees, including the Organizing Committee for International Conferences and the Tajweed Committee etc. He is facilitator of calligraphy. He is also a member of the Board of Studies and Board of Faculty at both Government College University Hyderabad and the University of Sindh.

Dr. Hafeez serves as an external examiner for M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates at the University of Karachi and the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. Beyond academia, he contributes to religious education by regularly delivering Dars-e-Hadith on Radio Pakistan and at various platforms around the world.

Dr. Mufti Hafiz Khair Muhammad Asif Memon
Assistant Professor

Brief Introduction:

Dr. Mufti Hafiz Khair Muhammad Asif, Assistant Professor at Department of Islamic Studies, Government College University Hyderabad possesses over a decade of comprehensive experience in teaching, research, and academic development across leading universities and institutions in Pakistan. His contributions reflect a strong commitment to excellence in higher education and scholarly advancement. He is engaged as an International Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University, Islamabad, where he is actively engaged in research on Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic Economics, and Societal Development, contributing through scholarly publications, international workshops, and collaborative academic projects. Having obtained Ph.D. in Islamic Culture, on the topic of "Comparative Analysis of Prohibited Trades in Islamic Economics System" from University of Sindh, Jamshoro in 2019 in addition to M.A (Economies) from University of Karachi. He has also obtained M.A (Islamic Culture) from University of Sindh, Jamshoro. Apart from that, Dr. Asif is a Hafiz-e-Quran and has completed two-year Ifta (Mufti) Course specializing in Islamic Financial and Commercial Law تخصص فی فقہ المعاملات المالیہ from renewed Islamic institute i.e. Jamia-tu-Rasheed Karachi. Prior to joining Government College University Hyderabad, Dr. Khair Muhammad Asif served as a Lecturer at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur, where he contributed his expertise to enhance quality education, research, academics, and community engagement. He also held key academic roles as a member of the Board of Studies, Board of Faculty, Academic Council, and Committee for unfair means for the university. He has also been engaged in teaching Islamic studies at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro and Department of Education, Government of Sindh. Dr. Asif also actively mentors postgraduate scholars and contributes to academic evaluation process in M.Phil and PhD programs at prominent higher education institutions. He has also worked as Naaib Mufti at Darul Ifta, Jamia Darul uloom-ul-Islamia Hala, at Hyderabad. Major areas of interest of Dr. Asif include Islamic fiscal Jurisprudence related to areas of Islamic finance and Banking, Takaful and shariah compliant investments, Inheritance Laws, Business Laws and Practices. Dr. Khair Muhammad Asif has numerous research publications in reputed national and international journals, focusing on Islamic Banking and Finance, Economics and trade, Commercial & Business Laws. He has also presented many research papers in various national and international conferences. He also been invited to speak at various programs, seminars, conference, and events related to Islamic Finance as a panelist as guest speaker. Apart from his professional responsibilities, Dr Asif has been engaged in various volunteer and philanthropic activities with national and international not-for-profit organizations focused on literacy enhancement, poverty alleviation and rural employment generation.

Dr. Mufti Hafiz Jahanzeb Rana

Dr. Mufti Hafiz Jahanzeb Rana is a highly accomplished Islamic scholar and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at Government College University, Hyderabad. With an exceptional academic journey marked by PhD degree in Islamic Studies from Federal Urdu University and Dr. Rana is also graduate from Jamia Islamia Clifton-he brings deep scholarly insight and over two decades of academic and research experience.

Prior to joining GCUH, Dr. Mufti Hafiz Jahanzeb Rana held key academic roles at esteemed institutions including Isra University, University Hyderabad Sindh, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), and Jamia Arabia Shams-ul-Noor Hyderabad as a Research Associate and member of academic boards, he has contributed significantly to curriculum design, faculty development, and academic quality.

He has authored 20+ peer-reviewed research publications in national and international journals and continues to supervise and evaluate postgraduate research. His diverse research interests include Qur'anic Sciences, Hadith, Islamic Law, Seerah, Islamic History, Fiqh, Arabic Studies, and contemporary socio-religious issues.

Dr. Mufti Hafiz Jahanzeb Rana holds multiple prestigious Ijazat-e-Hadees certifications and has been recognized for his active involvement in institutional and community development. He frequently delivers lectures, conducts seminars, and participates in national conferences on Islamic scholarship and education.

A committed educator and scholar, he is actively involved in curricular and co-curricular activities and serves on various academic committees. Fluent in Urdu, Sindhi, Arabic, Persian, Rajasthani, and English, he is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, moral education, and scholarly excellence within the field of Islamic Studies.
