Government College University, Hyderabad, is pleased to announce PhD admissions in the following programs:

  • English (Linguistics)
  • Education
  • Mathematics

PhD Programs Pre-requisite

  1. MS/MPHIL degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent qualification from any HEC recognized university/institution.
  2. Minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 in the semester system.
  3. Admission test by GCUH (Subjective) OR A valid GAT-General/Subjective test as per HEC criteria.
  4. Interview

Instructions

  • To apply for any PhD program/ discipline admission, students are advised to register on the university’s portal https://adm.gcuh.edu.pk/
  • Sign in to download the challan for registration.
  • The admission processing fee is Rs. 4000/ -(non-refundable)
  • Submit the online application along with all the required documents through the portal.

Important Dates

  • Admissions Announcement date: 10-08-2025
  • Last date of application: 15-09-2025
  • Test by GCUH (Subjective): To be announced later
  • Departmental test and interview date: To be announced later
  • Commencement of classes: January 2026
  • Time of classes: After 1:00 PM

Note: Those candidates who have already passed the GRE subjective test will be exempted from the GCUH admission test.

PHD Admission Test
a) University is required to:
    i. Enter a 3rd party arrangement under the University rules with any testing bodies recognized by HEC for conducting GRE/GAT/HAT General or equivalent as an eligibility condition for admission to PhD programs, with the passing score of 60%. OR
    ii. Conduct the test equivalent to GRE/GAT/HAT General developed at the University, with the passing score of 70%.
b) In addition to clause 3.4(a), the university may conduct a subject test for admission in PhD programs, if required.
Note: Question paper will be objective, comprising 100 MCQS
        Admission Test Paper will be comprised of 70:30 ratio (70 questions will be from the relevant subject and 30 questions will be from general Mathematics and English)
